Coronavirus and COVID-19 is an undeniable and very real concern to public safety in not only our community, our state, our country and even the globe as a whole. Unfortunately, that concern has led us to lose our ability to experience that pulse that makes our heart skip a beat live and in person. However, it doesn’t mean that pulse has to be silenced.
Memorial Day weekend was the weekend many of us would collectively gather in Pryor, Oklahoma in mass. Over 64,000 of us, in fact. While we can’t do so in 2020, we can still be there in spirit. Several social media groups, pages (including this one), and the local radio station are keeping that weekend’s tradition alive with special programming that weekend.
Surviving Rocklahoma will be live-streaming a performance from Outlaw Devils, who were scheduled to play the Road House stage. This performance will be recorded on May 16th, with yours truly in attendance working media. That footage will then be cleaned up, polished, and streamed Sunday, May 24th, 2020 at 9 pm on the weekly edition of Surviving Rocklahoma Live on Facebook at www.facebook.com/survivingrocklahoma.
Camp Zombie will be hosting their “RockFromYourHomea” event via their Facebook group featuring live performances, shout outs from various ROK family and personalities via Facebook live, a few giveaways, and much more and it will run all weekend as a series of live feeds throughout.
Tulsa’s top-rated rock station, 97.5 KMOD, will be running their “Mocklahoma” event that weekend featuring music from bands that were set to play that weekend with exclusive interviews, and more.
No matter your plans Memorial day, we will all feel the void of not seeing our ROK family and partying for 3-7 days straight. But, it will still be great to experience those bands we missed out on this year, local bands that were going to play, either sanctioned stages or unsanctioned stages in the campgrounds, as well as virtual toasts and appearances from the ROK regulars.
